What is the Act?
An Act to make it unlawful to discriminate against disabled persons in connection with employment, the provision of goods, facilities and services or the disposal or management of premises; to make provision about the employment of disabled persons; and to establish a National Disability Council.

Will the Act apply to my home or an Extension to my home?
If your home and extension is only for your private residential use the Act will not apply. If you intend to use part of your home or an Extension as accommodation for a business and intend to employ people you should consider what it may be reasonable for a disabled person to expect and design accordingly.
Will the Act apply to my project?
Only if you are commissioning a building to which disabled persons may reasonably expect to have access to for the purpose of employment, purchase of goods, facilities or services. There are exemptions for small businesses.
Who polices the Act?
An Industrial Tribunal when a person who complains that another person has discriminated against him in a way which is unlawful under the Act.
